Solidmatics team collaborating

Who We Are

We are a team of senior technology operators who have spent years working together as consultants, architects, advisors, and engineering managers across startups and scale-ups. We have inherited messes, built the right teams, fixed architectures, and shipped products together.

We decided to team up under Solidmatics to help SaaS founders solve the full range of engineering and product challenges, from strategy and team building to cloud infrastructure and AI, without the overhead of a full-time executive hire.

The AI Reality Check

Most founders are either:

  • Ignoring AI while competitors integrate it into delivery
  • Throwing AI at everything without a real operating thesis
  • Waiting for the right time instead of testing high-value use cases
AI analysis

What actually works:

  • Finding where AI creates 10x leverage in YOUR product - not everywhere, just where it matters
  • Using AI to ship faster with your current team
  • Avoiding the $50K "AI experiment" that goes nowhere

We have been building with LLMs, AI agents, and autonomous workflows since before most teams started experimenting. Not reading about it. Shipping it. Right now, our CEO leads engineering and product at an AI-powered platform where multi-agent systems, pre-training pipelines, and RAG architectures are in production.

When we advise, we are not guessing. We know what works, what is hype, and what is a waste of your runway.

What We Actually Do

We step in where founder dependence, delivery friction, architecture constraints, infrastructure issues, and AI uncertainty start slowing the company down.

Problem

You are still the bottleneck

How We Help

Set up processes so your team can ship without you approving everything

Problem

Team is not delivering

How We Help

Diagnose why, fix it. People, process, or both

Problem

Hired wrong, need to fix it

How We Help

Assess your team, help you make hard calls, hire right next time

Problem

No engineering leadership

How We Help

Fractional CTO/CTPO until you are ready (or can afford) full-time

Problem

Product and engineering misaligned

How We Help

Build workflows that actually connect roadmap to delivery

Problem

AI: where do we even start?

How We Help

Find high-ROI opportunities, skip the hype, ship something real

Problem

Development is too slow

How We Help

Implement AI-assisted workflows that speed up your current team

Problem

Architecture cannot scale

How We Help

Review, redesign, and implement the infrastructure to handle growth

Problem

Cloud costs are out of control

How We Help

Audit your AWS spend, right-size resources, implement cost governance

Problem

Security posture is unknown

How We Help

Audit infrastructure, access controls, backups, and fix the gaps

Our Team

When you engage Solidmatics, you get a team of senior operators. Not a solo consultant who stretches across too many domains. Each partner brings deep specialization, and we assemble the right combination based on what your company actually needs.

CEO

ToptalKayakScreenCloudHumaAesthetidocsSearchnodeVelocity BlackFreya

Bio

Vygandas founded Solidmatics to solve a problem he saw repeatedly: startups and mid-stage companies making expensive technology decisions without experienced leadership at the table. His approach is hands-on. He does not advise from the sideline. He gets into the codebase, the budget spreadsheet, and the hiring pipeline. Before Solidmatics, he held engineering management and technical product roles at Huma (London), Toptal, Velocity Black, and served as Fractional CTO for Smart Annie Inc. He has direct experience building software within regulated industries, securing EU grants, and managing cross-border team operations spanning the US, UK, and EU.

Role

Fractional CTO & CPO

Experience

20+ years in software engineering, product development, and management

Specialization

Technology strategy, team structuring, process optimization, budgets and financial planning, product roadmaps, SDLC governance, AI/LLM product development

Leadership Scale

Led cross-functional squads across backend, frontend, iOS, Android, QA, and automation

Education

MSc Computer Software Engineering (Kaunas University of Technology). Strategic Thinking for the CXO (Cambridge Judge Business School).

Key Outcomes

  • Delivered high-availability systems supporting millions of daily users.
  • Reduced SaaS operating costs by 50%.
  • Built in-house teams from scratch.
  • Managed EUR 30M+ healthcare engineering initiatives within Class IIb regulated environments.
  • Improved platform uptime to 99.99%.
  • Secured EUR 800K+ in EU R&D grants.

Who This Is For

Good Fit

  • Bootstrapped SaaS doing $100K+ ARR
  • Pre-seed/Seed funded (up to $5M)
  • 2-15 engineers (or about to hire your first)
  • Founder still too involved in day-to-day engineering decisions
  • Know AI matters, not sure where to start
  • Running on AWS and need infrastructure maturity

Not a Fit

  • Need someone to build your MVP from scratch (we lead the build, we do not replace your engineering team)
  • Want a full-time employee at contractor prices
  • Looking for the cheapest option
  • Want AI buzzwords, not AI results
